There are some bands you can assume we've all formed a definitive, adult-lifespan opinion about by the age of 21. Nirvana, the Beatles, Black Sabbath. Imagine guitarist Stephen K. Phillips' surprise, dismay and...joy? when he realized he was hitting Romana with Sabbath for the first time in her thirties. And that's how Bandshee whiplashed from a folk rock project to a stoner/doom/alt machine. Add in a fresh re-discovery of Chris Cornell's songwriting, passion for all things Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Pentagram and Witchcraft, and you get Bandshee. Oh yeah, and “the bass player loves Tool.” Haha.

Bandshee is based out of Louisville, KY, but plays regularly in Cincinnati, OH and Lexington, KY. We've toured through Ohio and Pennsylvania and recently extended our tendrils into Wisconsin for the Ride of the Living Dead.

While we've never been bestowed any official accolades, we have been awarded some righteous post show bud, and that makes us feel accomplished as a stoner rock band.

GEAR

Stephen plays any cheap guitar he can install a set of fancy Gibson pickups in. He uses Boss brand pedals for pretty much everything.

Stephen and Romana both have Boss Katana solid state amps for touring. Stephen uses a Mesa stack to record and Romana has a Fender Blues Deluxe. Romana plays an Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute Plus that Stephen gutted and modded for her. Her baritones are a Squier Telecaster and Ibanez, also modded by Stephen. Boss, Behringer and Ibanez dominate her pedal board.

Our bass rig is a Fender Rumble 100 and Mac rocks an LTD.
